Rick D. Land, 59 of Hope passed away at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday May 4, 2001 at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Rick had been Director of Program Development at Shares, Inc in Shelbyville for many years. He was a member of Hope United Methodist Church, a director on Hope Summer Playground, a director on Future Jets program and an IHSAA official.
Rick liked to fish and read, loved sports and sprint car racing and helped with Special Olympics
The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Marianne Hawkins and Rev. Jerry Crouse officiating.
Calling will be at Norman Funeral Home in Hope on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Hawcreek Cemetery near Hope.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shelby County Special Olympics or Hope Summer Playground thru Norman Funeral Home.
Born in Shelbyville Jan. 4, 1952, Rick was the son of Jack and Betty Lou Robertson Land. He married Joanie Ward and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, children Joshua W. Land of North Vernon, Molly Ann Land of Shelbyville and Joseph D. Land of Hope , his mother Betty Lou Land of North Vernon. brothers Ron (Christy) Land of Simi Valley, CA., Tim Land of North Vernon and a sister Annie (Chad) Smith of North Vernon.
