Aaron Eugene "Gene" Oliver, 76 of Columbus passed away at 7:45 p.m. Monday March 7, 2011 at Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Mr. Oliver had worked at Golden Foundry for 38 years as an inspector. He attended Newbern United Methodist Church. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with the Rev. Morris Hannah officating. Calling will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m and on Friday from 10 until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation and Hospice of South Central Indiana thru the funeral home.
Born in Bartholomew County July 2, 1934 , Mr. Oliver was the son of Moody Paul and Fannie Opal Spaugh Oliver. He married Donna J. Detraz Burkman at Newburn United Methodist on August 31, 1979.
Survivors include his wife; children Royce Eugene (Jo) Oliver of Shelbyville, Melinda Jo (Jeff) Burton, Tony Lee (Kim) Oliver, Deena Kay (Mark) Dooley, Brenda Sue (Lynn) Dishinger all of Columbus, Teresa Ann (Randy) Gearhart of Hope and Kent Marlin (Rosie) Burkman of Boyton Beach, Fla; grandchildren Robert Wayne (Shannon) Dailey, Daniel Jon (Becky) Oliver, Dustin Aaron (Nicole) Oliver, Stacie Marie Brown , Jessica Jo Oliver, Stephen Lee Dishinger, Christopher T. Disinger, Benjamin J. Gearhart, Melissa Allison Disinger, Jarod Kent and Zachary Ira Gearhart, Kent Francisco and Katherine Grace Burkman Joshua Wade Burton; great grandchildren Nolan and Addison Dailey and Makenzie Oliver ; and a sister Ruth (Roy) Hollman of Hartsville.
Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Lois Ann Snodderly and a great grandson Byron David Oliver.
