Allan Straub, 59, of Brown County went home to be with the Lord at 12:17 p.m. Friday Febuary 18, 2011 at Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Mr. Straub had been employed for 39 years with Columbus Component , formerly Arvin Industries. He was a member and associate pastor at Parkside Baptist Church where he also taught young couples class.
Allan and his wife Charlotte were church planters for South Central Baptist Association, where he served on the administrative team. In 2004 , Allan was named small church pastor of the year for the State of Indiana. He served with the Mission Service Corp. and Disaster Relief in Kentucky and Florida. He attended Hope and Hauser Schools and was a graduate of Columbus High School and had seminary extension education. He was an accomplished musician , especially in the guitar and enjoyed playing music with his son. Allan was also a member of the National Rifle Association.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Parkside Baptist Church, 1780 Rocky Ford Rd. by Dr William E. Bailey. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4: 00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research, Hospcie of South Central Indiana or the building fund at Parkside Baptist Church thru Norman Funeral Home in Hope.
Born in New Albany on July 31, 1951, Allan was the son of Charles Ray and Viola Goodin Perry. He was raised by his grandparents Mona and Melvin Straub. He married Charlotte Wagner in 1970 and she survives.
Other survviors include a son Brian (Sonia) Straub of Brown County, grandsons Tyler and Austin Straub of Brown County; mother Viola (George) Wells of Columbus ; brothers Don (Jill) Perry of North Vernon and Danny (Faye) Fivecoat of Columbus; sisters Sue Kain of Indianapolis and Dolores Perry of Twin Lakes, Wis.; an aunt Kathryn Kanouse of Columbus and several nieces and nephews.
Allan was preceded in death by his father , grandparents; a brother Charles Perry, Jr. and a sister Lisa Thompson
