Allen Barr, 94 of Columbus passed away Wednesday June 12, 2012 at Kindred Care of Columbus. Mr. Barr had worked at Farmers Co-op in Columbus and was a member of Burnsville Christian Church. The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Norman Funeral Home at Hope with Rev. Dan Shaw officiating. Calling hours will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m until service time. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Born in Bartholomew County on January 17, 1918, Mr. Barr was the son of Orvy and Nettie Kurts Barr. He married Melva Vanest on Aug. 15, 1937 and she survives. Survivors include a son- in-law John Bayless of Glasgow, Ky.; granddaughter Heather (Garrett) Bowling of Newburgh, grandson John (Beth) Bayless of Oshkosh, WI.; great grandchildren Morgan, Kathie, Nathan, Brooke and Matthew; brothers Kenneth Barr of Kansas City and Norman Barr of Columbus. Mr. barr was preceded in death by a daughter Juanita Barr; brother Lester and Alvin Barr and sisters Ruth Skinner and Irene Schaub.
