Alma Fields Rhoades, 89 of Hope passed away Sunday Nov. 23, 2008 at 5:04 p.m. at Miller' Merry Manor in Hope. Mrs. Rhoades had worked as a housekeeper for Miller's Merry Manor. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Kentucky and was an avid NASCAR and Jeff Gordon fan and loved to do sewing. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Norman Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Crouse officiating. Calling will be on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Hawcreek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc or the Amercian Cancer Fund thru the funeral home. She was born in Ohio Co. KY. on April 7, 1919. She married Otis Rhoades in 1934 and he preceded her in death on July 3, 1987 Survivors include children Thelma (Tommy Harper) Kissling of Hope, Faye (Glenn) Kissling of Fort Worth, Texas and Sherdon (Linda) Rhoades of Scipio; eight grandchildren,thirteen great grandchidlren and seven great great grandchildren; half sistersMargaret Hedges of Utica, KY, Catherine Nicol of Fort Worth ,Texas and Rachel Miller of Hope. She was preceded in death by half brothers Junior Dean, Maurice, and Lewis Samuel Rhoades and half sisters Layvanne Rhoades and Trudy Miller
