Obituary

Anna Mae "Granny" Shaw, 101, of Flat Rock, passed away on June 8, 2026 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. For the past two years, she had made her home at The Willows of Shelbyville, where she received compassionate care and kindness from the staff.

Born on December 3, 1924, she was the daughter of Columbus and Alta Hawkins West. She married JT Shaw, and he preceded her in death in 1988.

She spent most of her life caring for her home and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Bruce) Basey of Shelbyville; grandchildren Jerry Nugent of Flat Rock, Amy Wilson of Shelbyville, JoAnna (Tim) Hooten of Elizabethtown, James (fiancé, Kathy Adkins) Land of Shelbyville, Shannon Clark of Clifford, Melissa Bostic of Greenwood, and Bobby (Cynthia) Waltermire of Columbus. Her family circle further expands to include 24 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter Bonnie Jo; alongside siblings Howard, Ruby, Bob, and Bessie; and grandchildren David, Jody, and Billie Jo.
