Barbara Jean Froedge Pierce, 80, of Shelbyville passed away on February 11, 2024 at Major Hospital.

Born on October 6, 1943 in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, Barbara was the daughter of Henry and Annie Harper Froedge. She married L. Wayne Pierce on May 31, 1963, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2023.

Barbara was a member of Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Letts. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune, and sewing and quilting. She especially loved her family.

Survivors include her children, Julie Pierce of Greensburg, Jamey (Kim) Pierce of Flat Rock, Janie (Robert) Kessler of Flat Rock, Jennifer (Ronnie) Smith of Greensburg, and Jeremy (Darla) Pierce of Flat Rock; grandchildren, Nathan, Rachel, Aleisha & Kristin, Amber & Andrew, April & Wes, Ashley, Alicia "A.J." & Verley, Tyler, Drew, Jeremy "J.W." & Kirsten, Jacob & Lexi, Brianna & Ricky, Joey & Miranda, and Disaree; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings, Stella Asbury of Columbus, Janice (Kenton) Gosser of Flat Rock, Ronnie (Teresa) Froedge of Columbus; and brother-in-law, Malcom Bragg of Flat Rock.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; parents; daughter, Joy Pierce; grandson, Andrew Lazzell; and siblings, Kenneth Froedge, Bernice Thompson, Judy Bragg, and Betty Wicker.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 15 at 1 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Norristown Cemetery.
