Betty J. (Calender) Newsom, 73 of Hope passed away at 8:05 p.m. Saturday April 17, 2010 at Miller's Merry Manor at Hope.
Betty was a homemaker and attended Hamilton Praise Ministries and was a member of Christians International . She loved crocheting,crafts, collecting ,reading and writing short stories.
Th funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Norman Funeral Home with the Rev Della Hamilton officiating. Calling will be on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be at Daughtery Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana 2626 E 17th St. Columbus, In 47201 or Little Angels for Haiti Missions thru the funeral home.

Born in Columbus December 17, 1936, Betty was the daughter of Raymond and Margerite Dinkins Newsom.
Survivors include a daughter Nancy Lucas of Hope; sons Gary Calender of Hope, Kenny Calender of Clifford and Lynn (Cheryl) Calender of Breeding, KY; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson Nathan Calender and a sister Katherine Harker.
