Charles A. Parrish, 93 of Mooreland, IN passed away Wednesday
February 12, 2014 at his home.
He was retired from Dalton Foundries. He had also been a foster
parent for many years.
He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Fortville
Oddfellows and a member of the Yorktown American Legion.
He loved gardening, yardwork, fishing, swimming and spending
time with family.
Born May 4, 1920 in North Vernon, IN, Charles was the son of
Charles William
and Ida Mae Cooly Parrish. He married Dorothy
Shanks October 26, 1945 and she preceded him in death April 4, 2003.
The funeral will be
Monday at 1:00 p.m
. at Norman Funeral Home,
604 Main St., Hope, IN 47246
. Visitation will be from 11 to 1 Monday
at the funeral home. Burial with military graveside rites provided by the
Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard will be at Hawcreek Cemetery
near Hope.
Survivors include; a son, William "Bill" D. (Ilene) Parrish of New Castle;
grandchildren, Troy Allen Gregory, Scott Allen Parrish, Jennipher Holcolmb,
Juli Proctor, Tamra Boucher, Cheryl Coffin, Stephen Couch; 23 great
grandchildren; 6 great- great grandchildren; a foster daughter, Sue Sarvich of
Indianapolis and a companion, Evelyn whom Charles introduced to the family
about 10 years ago. She is a very special lady who took good care of him and
the family has grown to love her and considers her part of the family.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy of 57 years
and 3 siblings, Noel Parrish, Lillie Hite and Lula Ann Curry.
