Clara E. Hunt Warner, 96 of Greensburg, died Monday July 6, 2009 at 12:05 pm at Miller's Merry Manor in Hope.
She was a retired school teacher having taught at Union Joint, Nineveh and Taylorsville Schools. She also taught at the Illiterate school for the 5th division at Camp Atterbury.
Clara and her husband owned and operated Warner's Cleaners in Columbus and Middle Fork Farm in Decatur County.
She was a member of Columbus Elks Club and the Arbor Society. She loved painting, gardening, bird watching, sewing, growing fruit and nut trees, horses and cattle.
A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 11:30 am at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus with Rev. Rand Hooton officiating. Memorial contributions may be donated to the
Columbus Cheer Fund through Norman Funeral Home or Bartholomew County Cancer Society, 4567 Progress Park Dr., Columbus, IN 47201 or through the funeral home.
Born on January 27, 1913, at the Hunt Farm in Johnson County, Mrs. Warner was the daughter of Homer D. and Oma Burgett Hunt. She married Thomas A. Warner June 23, 1941 in Lagrange, IN. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1986.
Survivors include a son, Thomas L. Warner of Greensburg; grandchildren, Susan E., Michael T., Victoria L., Thomas L. Jr. and Barbara A. Warner; and a brother, George Hunt of Franklin.
She was prceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Mary Martin and Ella Mae Waltz.
