David Gene Goins, 71, of Columbus, passed away on August 2, 2022 at IU Health Methodist Hospital.
Born on April 5, 1951 in Bartholomew County, David was the son of Elmer K. and Marjorie E. Anderson Goins. He married Lea Nasby on January 3, 1976 at New Zion Methodist Church near Ogilville. In 2019, David and Lea traveled to Aurland, Norway to visit Lea's grandfather, Sigurd Nasby's Family Farm and met 50+ cousins.
David was owner and operator of David Goins Construction and Goins Rentals. He was a member of Ogilville United Methodist Church.
David loved doing projects. He had a special knack for turning trash into treasure. He could fix anything and was the one his family went to when needing help. David also enjoyed using his backhoe to improve properties. One of his favorite hobbies was restoring his 1965 Ford Fairlane.
Survivors include his wife, Lea of Columbus; daughters, Kyra (Jarret Rixmann) Goins of Ogilville, Nellie Stout of Indianapolis, and Kathryn (Andrew) Merchant of Indianapolis; grandchildren, John David, Kolsen, and Nash Myers, Willem and Norie Stout, and Samuel and Duke Merchant; siblings, Paulette (Gene) Foldenauer and Clarice Wilks; mother-in-law, Jane Nasby; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
David is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy Reese; and father-in-law, Max Nasby.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Ogilville United Methodist Church, 11950 E. SR 58 Columbus, IN 47201.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Southwest Fire Department via Ohio Trustee.
