Dean Lane, 85, of Hope, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at his home.

Born on June 1, 1938 in Columbus, Dean was the son of Richard B. and Marie Odeta Lane. He married Peggy Kelly on December 23, 1984.

Dean had retired from Contractors United Incorporated. In his younger years, he attended East Columbus Christian Church.

Dean enjoyed watching NASCAR, doing yardwork, and gardening. Dean never knew a stranger and always knew someone everywhere he went.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; children, Rebecca Fields of Columbus, Michael Lane, and Gregory Lane, both of North Vernon; sister, Janet Baldwin of Columbus; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Richard J. Lane, Robert E. Lane, and Grace Anne Barkes.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Cremation is planned following services.

Memorial contributions may be given to Riley Hospital for Children.
