Dennis L. Lee, 70, of Hope passed away Monday,
May 23, 2016 at 5:15 a.m. at Our Hospice of South
Central Indiana.
He was an Engineering Manager in operation improvements
and worked at Cummins for 28 years, fifteen of which were
in England. He was instrumental in beginning the Just In Time
training, especially set up reduction, in the UK, on which he
presented a paper in London, later published in the book
"Just-In-Time Manufacture." He then followed on with Kaizen,
traveling extensively overseas to implement programming at
the various Cummins plants. After retirement, Dennis started
his own consulting business.
In earlier years, Dennis enjoyed mountaineering, camping,
and taking motorcycle trips. More recently, he spent time
woodturning, fishing, birdwatching, and enjoying the outdoors.
He was a member of the Lion's Club in the U.K.
Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held on
Tuesday, May 31 at 6 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of service. Burial will
be at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to Utopia Wildlife
Rehabilitators through the funeral home.
Born on September 7, 1945, Dennis was the son of George
and Edna Hipkiss Lee. He married Janet Dudley on September
28, 1968, and she survives.
Other survivors include, children, Caroline Lee Martinez of
Columbus and Adrian (Nichole) Lee of Freetown; brother, George
(Jackie) Lee of Coventry, England; grandchildren, Kimberlee,
Cameron, Lauren, Cristen, and Evan.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
