Obituary

Dewana Lucille Temple Bramlett, 92, better known as "Granny" by her family and close friends went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Silver Oaks Health Campus where she resided for the past 4 ½ years. She was a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother.

Dewana was born in Carroll County, Indiana, on May 14, 1915. She graduated from Adam's Township High School in 1934 and moved to Gary, Indiana, to find work during the Great Depression. While there, she met and married her husband James C. Bramlett in 1938. The family moved to the Lafayette area in 1947, first living in Buck Creek before moving to Lafayette. She worked for thirty years as an inspector at Duncan Meter retiring in 1978. She moved to the Columbus area to be near her son and family with her beloved sister Geneva after both of them were widowed. When Geneva became disabled, Dewana was a wonderful caregiver, and dedicated joy giver.

Dewana was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 13, from 2 to 6 PM at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. A funeral service will be held at the mausoleum at the Memorial Garden's Cemetery in West Lafayette, Indiana on Monday, April 14, at 11:00 with Pastor Mark Teike officiating. Calling will be from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pregnancy Care Centers of South Central Indiana, 732 Smith Street, Columbus, Indiana.

Mrs. Bramlett is survived by her son, Jim and his wife Karen, of Columbus; grandchildren Robert (Cathy) Bramlett of Dodgeville, WI; Rebecca (Marc) Goldstone of Irvine, CA; Tom (Karen) Bramlett, Meghann Bramlett, and Mary (Jason) Kolkmeier all of Franklin Township, Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept 2, 1970, her parents Ferd and Elizabeth McVey Temple, her sister, Geneva Schildberg, and her four brothers Lester, Bob, Forest, and Raymond Temple.
