Doris Marcella Lortz, 90 of Columbus died Wednesday
September 2, 2015 at Waldron Health Care Center.
Born November 18, 1924 in St. Louis, MO, she was the
daughter of Roscoe and Lela Lewis Wells, Sr.
Survivors include children, Kathryn Blackburn of Hope,
Marva Andrews of Hartsville, Norma (Mike) Johnson of
Azalia, Marianne (John) Memarian of Shelbyville, Steve (Jolene)
Lortz of Flat Rock and Jon Lortz of Columbus; 45 grandchildren;
88 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; a sister,
Anita Clay of Hope; a brother, Ted Wells of Columbus.
There will be a graveside service Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
at Hawcreek Cemetery with Danny Holley officiating, followed
by a memorial service and luncheon at Hope Baptist Church.
Doris loved writing, genealogy, gardening and her plants.
She completed her high school education in her 60's and
got her first set of pearls when she was 89.
She was a Christian woman and her optimism will always be
remembered by family and friends through her favorite phrase,
"It will be alright and this too shall pass." This was her motto of
her faith in Jesus.
Doris was preceded in death by; her parents; grandsons, Warren
Johnson, Jim Bob Blackburn and Caleb Blackburn; sisters, Nina Lynch
and Jean Chisnall and a brother, Roscoe Wells, Jr.
