Dorothy M. Carter, 87 of Columbus, died Wednesday June 2, 2010 at 9:10 am at Franklin Meadows Health Center.
She was retired from Como Plastics after working there for 20 years. She was a member of the Columbus American Legion Post 24.
The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 pm at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. Mark Walker officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time on Monday. Burial will be at Hartsville College Cemetery.

Born on March 13, 1923, in Columbus, IN, Dorothy was the daughter of Orville "Doc" and Dorothy M. Critzer Robertson. She graduated from Hope High School in 1941.
Survivors include; two sons, Dwight (Sara) Carter of Hope and David Carter of Denmark; a daughter, Anita (Dallas) Smith of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Piper (Jon) Spurgeon of Trafalgar, Dustin (Amy) Carter of Seffner Fl., Tyler and Heather Smith both of Edinburgh; great grandchildren, Megan Hogan, Jeremy Collins, Lane Spurgeon, Haley Spurgeon and Lauren Carter; a great great granddaughter, Kiersten Anna Marie Hogan; two step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren and an aunt Margorie Donhost.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Emerson Carter, a companion, Jim Koontz and a son Michael Dwain.
