Earl Davis Ellis, 82, of Needham, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at his daughter’s home.
Born on April 6, 1944 in Louisville, KY, Earl was the son of Orville Ellis and Ruby Burton Carter. Before retirement, Earl was an Over-the-Road truck driver. Earl served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1967 during the Vietnam War. While in the Army, Earl was a truck driver and cook.
Earl attended Grace Point Church in Whiteland. He enjoyed spending this time fishing, riding his Harley, and playing pool and card games. Earl loved golfing especially with the “Good Ol’ Boys.” He loved his time spent being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Lesley (David) Tyler of Charlestown, IN, Victoria (Jesse) Jones of Needham, and Brenda (Michael) Anderson of Columbus; grandchildren, Dale Hoover, Jasmine Hoover, Sarah Ellis, Heather Anderson, and Kyle Anderson; and great-granddaughters, Aubri Meadows, Sophie Meadows, Emmalynn Anderson, and one great-granddaughter on the way.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Carla McKee.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 11 at 2 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Hawcreek Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
