Obituary

Elmer Goins, 86, of Ogilville went home to be with our Lord at 6:40 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

A machinest at Reeves Pully, he retired with his wife Marjorie in the early 1980's and enjoyed wintering in Lake Placid, Florida. His favorite past times were playing golf with his friends and family, planting a large garden, fox hunting, playing cards, shooting pool, and mowing grass at his country home.

Mr. Goins was an Army World War II Veteran decorated with the WWII Victory Metal, ATSB & EAME Sb Metals, and earned a metal for Good Conduct. He was a former member of VFW, Eagles and Elks Lodge.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Ogilville United Methodist Church located on State Road 58, with the Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Family and friends may call from 11 AM to 1 PM Thursday prior to the service.

Burial service will follow immediately at St.Paul Cemetary in Ogilville. Full military rites will be presented by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana in lieu of flowers.

Born in Kentucky, May 1, 1924, Elmer was the son of John and Maggie Baker Goins. He married Marjorie Anderson in 1946.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years; daughters, Paulette (Gene) Foldenaur and Clarice Wilks; a son David (Lea) Goins; grandchildren, Tom Wilks, Tony Wilks, Wendy (Clinton) Hiatt, Gary (Michelle) Foldenauer, Lisa (Steve) Thompson, Rick (Lynn) Reese, Kyra (Matt) Myers, Nellie (Ryan) Stout, and Katy Goins;
a sister, Martha Russell Moore; a brother Charles (Pat) Goins; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Goins was preceded in death by his daughter Judith Reese; his parents; sisters, Elizabeth, Delphine, Cindy, Rosie and Nancy; and brothers, Frank, David and Johnny.
