Eva M. Banister, 93 of Hope passed away Thursday March 24, 2011
at Hospice of South Central Indiana after an illness of Cancer. She was retired
from working in the office at Cummins.
She was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church. She was
an avid NASCAR, Purdue and Pacer fan. She loved her cats, playing SkipBo with
special friends and was an antique collector. She had also been a scout leader.
The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 am at Norman Funeral Home in
Hope with Revs. Marianne Hawkins and Jerry Crouse officiating..
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 - 8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hope Moravian
Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be donated to Hospice of South

Born on May 18, 1917 in Orleans, IN, Eva was the daughter of Jerry P.
and Lora M. Tomlinson Smith. She graduated from Orleans High School
in 1935 and from Seymour Business College. She married O.C. "Joe" Banister
on December 18, 1954 in Greenfield, IN and he preceded her in death on
March of 2001.
Survivors include; daughters, Rita (Mike) Begeman of Indianapolis and Lynda (Victor) Fileppi
of Chicago; a step son, Jack (Frances) Banister of Hanover; nine grandchildren;
twenty two great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews and
a son Dr. Jerry (Barbara) Peacher of Rolla, MO.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and five brothers,
Opal, Tomie, Martin, Carl and Paul Smith.
