Obituary

F. Gene Heitz, 77 of Waynesburg, IN, passed away Saturday April 3, 2010 at Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Gene was born August 4, 1932 in Bartholomew County to John & Helen Warner Heitz. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1950 and in 1952 during the Korean War Gene joined the U.S. Air Force and was honoraly discharged December 14, 1955 and returned to Indiana. He then worked for Arvin Industries where he retired from after 42 years of service.
He was a member of the Waynesburg Christian Church where he served as deacon and trustee. He was a member of the Alert Masonic Lodge which merged with Hope Masonic Lodge. At Alert he was past master. He was also a member of the Eastern Star in North Vernon.
Gene enjoyed doing woodworking.
On August 16, 1952 he married Patricia "Patty" McNealy at the Waynesburg Christian Church and lived in Waynesburg since 1958.
The funeral will be conducted Friday at 10:00 am at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. David Burnett officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 - 8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be donated through the funeral home to the Waynesburg Christian Church or to Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Survivors include his wife Patty of Waynesburg; son, Ronald Heitz of Yuma, Arizona; grandchildren, Jayme (Tom) Heitz Bunch, Andrew Heitz and Austin Heitz all of Arizona and a brother, Larry (Barbara) Heitz.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Randy Jo and sister, Faye.
