Fonda Faye Rose, 86, of Columbus passed away April 27, 2023 at Franciscan Health.

Born November 11, 1936 in Norton, VA she was the daughter of Joseph and Jannie Skorupa Gabriel . She married Charles Robert Rose and he preceded her in death July 11, 2018.

Fonda Faye as her sisters called her was the oldest of 9 siblings . After the untimely death of her father she held the family together and that included caring for her infant sister who was born just 2 weeks after the death of their father . Her siblings all depended on her and looked up to her during this time . After her mother's death Faye was the matriarch of the family.

Faye was a charter member of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd . She enjoyed reading, gospel music, gardening, flowers and being outside . She enjoyed day trips with her husband and spending time with her family.

Faye is survived by children, Randy Rose of Columbus, Victoria Hiatt of Hope, Mark (Jennifer) Rose of Edinburgh, and Brayden Rose of Columbus; grandchildren, Rachel Hiatt, Robin Hiatt, Robert (Amber Allman) Hiatt, Lindsey (Jordan) Roy, Haley (Justin) McGeorge and Summer (Jarod) Crank; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; siblings, Evelyn (Farrell) Axsom of Columbus, Shirley (Jack) Holmes of Columbus, Debbie Gabriel of Columbus and Steve Gabriel of Hope and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Faye will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to service time on Tuesday . The funeral will be officiating by Pastor Stephen Thompson . Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and siblings, Barbara West, Betty Gabriel, Donnie Gabriel, Jerry Gabriel, Jimmie Gabriel and infant Frankie Gabriel.
