Obituary

Gene Kelsay, 73, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born on November 23, 1951 in Franklin, Gene was the son of Owen Kelsay and Evelyn Miller Quillen. He married Kathy Burris, and they had been married for over 30 years.

Gene enjoyed working on old cars and going to car shows. He loved NASCAR, Dallas Cowboys and watching Westerns with his wife. He also enjoyed hanging out in the garage or on the front porch with his wife.

Survivors include children, Tonya Marshall of Elizabethtown, Randy (Michelle) Kelsay of Elizabethtown, Danny (Maedell Hankins) Kelsay of Elizabethtown, Patricia (George) Adams of Ninevah, Kimberly (Todd) James of North Vernon, Greg (Deanna) Kelsay of Edinburgh, Mark (Tracy) Scroghan of Columbus, Dean Dykes of Columbus, and Anna (Juan) Scruggs of Columbus; brothers, Shell (Lovetta) Kelsay and Ronnie (Sharon) Kelsay; sister, Patricia Valencia; and several nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Oren Kelsay, Thomas Kelsay, Russell Kelsay, Wayne Kelsay, and Roy Kelsay; and daughter-in-law, Catherine Dykes.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 9 at 1 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Springer Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
