George M. "Moe" Thompson, 72, of Columbus, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Moe retired from Cummins Inc. in 1999, and was a member of Grammer Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed playing softball, basketball, volleyball, bowling and also enjoyed fishing.
Born on November 26, 1944 in Bartholomew County, Moe was the son of George M. and Sara Trimble Thompson. He married Linda Scott on August 25, 2002, and she
survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Kimberly Dawn Bruner and Kristie Turnbow, both of Columbus; stepchildren, Jeff (Melissa) Brown of Hope, Lisa (Matt) Lee and Peggy (Chris) Olmstead, both of Columbus; grandchildren, MacKenzie Bruner and Max Turnbow, both of Columbus; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Hukill of North Vernon; two nieces; several great-nephews; and a
great-niece.
Moe was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, David Hukill.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Pastor Cody Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
