Harold A. Capper, 85 of Clifford passed away Thursday March 25, 2010 at 12:30 pm at his home.
He was a farmer and had previously been a county fire inspector and Clifford Town Marshall. He was a member of the F.O.P. and the former Clifford Christian Church. He helped with the Cheer Fund for many years. He was a member of the Clifford Volunteer Fire Dept. where he had served as chief and had given 55 years of service. He was a member of the IVFA for over 50 years.
Harold was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and was an avid NASCAR fan.
The funeral will be conducted Monday at 1:00 pm at the Hope Moravian Church with Rev. Jerry Crouse officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 - 7:00 at Norman Funeral Home in Hope and from 12:00 until service time at the church on Monday. An IVFA memorial service will be at 6:30 pm. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery west of Clifford.
Memorials may be donated through the funeral home to Hospice of South Central IN. or in honor of Harold's great grandson Conner to: Families of SMA- Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
Born on February 17, 1925, in Hope, Harold was the son of Roscoe and Alice Holtz Capper.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra (Tony) Lanham of Columbus; grandchildren, Jason Sitzes of Louisville and Jami (Scott) Freeman of Columbus; great grandchildren Conner Michael and Carli Elizabeth Freeman both of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Capper and sisters, Maryetta Kalkwarf and Ellen Capper.
