Hazel D. Giles, 95 of Westport passed away Wednesday January 5, 2011
at Hospice of South Central Indiana Patient Facility.
She was retired from being a homemaker and childcare giver for 38 families in Hope.
She was a member of Hope Royal Neighbors of America. She was an avid reader,
loved gardening and doing needlepoint.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 am at Norman Funeral Home in Hope
with Mike Bartlett officiating. The visitation will be Friday from 4 - 8 pm and Saturday
from 9:30 am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery.
Memorials may be donated to the Hope Branch of the Bartholomew County Library.
Born on October 23, 1915 in Adair, County, Ky, Hazel was the daughter of Felix and Sarah
Wingler Price. She married Elby Giles February 18, 1934 in Knifley, Ky and they had
celebrated 72 years of marriage before Elby's passing in April of 2004.
Survivors include a son, Rollin (Deanne) Giles of Letts; a daughter, Elaine (Don)
Sebastian of Greensburg; a sister, Opal Knight of Louisville, Ky; 9 grandchildren; 18
great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Joyce Blackerby;
sons, Gary and Elmer Giles; sisters, Mabel Shephard, Marie Blair and Lydia Gabbard,
and brothers, Raymond, Chester and Jessie Price.
