Helen Lucille Smith, age 89, of Hope died Monday January 21, 2008 at 9:30 am at Miller's Merry Manor in Hope.
Mrs. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church of Hope and a member of the church choir. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Drive. She was a homemaker and worked in the food services at Miller's Merry Manor.
Born February 25, 1918 in High Point, NC, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of Gaither and Christine Payne Robertson. She was married to Harley Smith June 12, 1937 at First Baptist Church of Hope by Rev. John Knight. He preceded her in death.
The funeral will be Thursday January 24 at 1:30 pm at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. Paul Taylor and Rev. Mark Walker officiating. Calling will be on Wednesday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church of Hope, 455 Jackson St. Hope, IN 47246, Hospice of South Central IN, 2626 E 17th St. Col., IN 47201 or Miller's Merry Manor Activities Fund 7440 N 825 E Hope, IN 47246.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda D.(Sherdon) Rhoades of Scipio; sons, Larry E.(Sandy) Smith
of Hope, and Gerald L.(Ava) Smith of Columbus; and a sister, Flora Robertson Manlief of Taylorsville; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; brothers, Dale and Donald Robertson and a grand-daughter Jennifer Goddard.
