Howard B. Crussel Sr. 97 of Columbus passed away at 12:45 p.m. Friday May 16 at Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Mr. Crussel was a retired farmer and a life long member of the Newbern United Methodist Church where he served as church treasurer for 16 1/2 years, a church trustee, sunday school superintendant and teacher. He was a 4-H boys club leader, boy scout leader and Clifty township Farm Bureau President. He was Democrat precinct committeeman for 22 years and also served as Clifty Township Trustee. He was a very dedicated man to his church , his family and his farm.
Mr. Crussel was born near Newbern on February 9, 1911 . He was the son of
Edward and Flossie Swaim Crussel. He married Dorothy C. Oliphant on May 27 , 1932 and she preceded him in death on June 7, 2006
He is survived by sons Howard B. (Joanne) Crussel, Jr. of Lafayette and
Marvin ( Nancy Jo ) Crussel of Columbus and a daughter Donna Robinson of Evansville,
seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren and one
nephew.
The funeral service will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Newbern United Methodist Church with Dean Henderson officiating. Calling will be at the church on monday
from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Newbern United Methodist Church thru Norman Funeral Home.
Mr. Crussel was preceded in death by his wife, a brother James E Crussel,
and a sister Vanessa Crussel Setser.
