Ivan B. Seward, 89 of Hope died at 1:35 p.m. Sunday Sept. 27, 2009 at Miller's Merry Manor at Hope.
Mr. Seward was a farmer all his life. He was a member of the Chapel Of The Good Shepherd Church in Hope and loved gardening. He served with the U.S. Navy during
W.W. II. He married Marilyn Bruner on April 27, 1951 . She preceded him in death on August 23, 2005. He was born in Flat Rock on December 7, 1919 , he was the son of Ernest Bailes and Martha Bright Seward.
Surivors include daughters Shari (Jim) Shireman of Greenwood, Debra (Ralph) Slone of Hope and Amy (Jim) McClain of Danville; brother Glen Seward of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister Sarah Moore of Hope; grandchildren Chris(Mayra) Shireman of Greenville, N.C., Jeremy (Jessica) Shireman of Whiteland, Amanda McClain and Thomas McClain of Danville; Step grandchildren Elton and Fred Slone of Calif.; great grandchildren Savanna Shireman of Whiteland, Angelia Shireman of Greenville,N.C.; step great granchildren Derek and Alex Slone of Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister Ella Taggart.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Norman Funeral Home at Hope with the Rev. Bill Tennyson officiating. Calling will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Flat Rock cemetery with military graveside rites.
