James "Hub" Howard, 74 of Hartsville died Saturday April 5, 2008 at 3:30 am at Hospice of South Central Indiana.
He was a machine operator for Relience Electric- Reeves Division. He was a member of Hartsville United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army. He loved to read, fish trap and work on small engines.
The funeral will be Tuesday April 8 at 2:00 pm at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Raymond Brown officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00-7:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery with a military graveside service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana, Hartsville Fire Dept., Squad 15 and Hartsville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Howard was born on November 3, 1932 in Vincent, Ala. He was the son of Dan & Bertie Jane Robertson Howard. His father died when he was young and he was raised by his mother and step father, Fred Caldwell. He married Maxine Shepherd on July 6, 1953 in Greensburg, IN and she survives.
Other survivors include; children, Jimmy "J D" Howard of Hope, Debbie(Darryl) Pittman of Conyers, GA, Mitzie(Garrett) Shipley of Columbus and David(Ivana) Howard of Hope; and grandchildren, Carrie Miller of Social Circle, GA, Ashley Hunt of Covington, GA, Gigi & Mitchell Shipley of Columbus; great grandchildren, Jackson & Braydon Miller, Jillian Hunt, & Daniel, Tricia & Julian Howard.
Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.
