James R. McPeek, 90, of Columbus, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022 at his home.

Born on April 16, 1932, he was the son of Charles and Kathryn Joy McPeek. He married Yvonne Johnson, and she preceded him in death on January 10, 2021.

James is survived by step-daughters, Vicki (Tim) Kirchner of North Vernon and Kim Harris of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Alena (Troy) Jewell, Allen Naldrett and Ryan Harris; great-grandchildren, Nolan Jewell, Alyse Jewell, Risley Harris, and Shay Harris; siblings, Marge McPeek Fox of Columbus and Carol McPeek Black of Florida.

Before retirement, James was employed in the maintenance department at Revco.

He enjoyed gardening, and in his earlier years he enjoyed flying his small airplane.

A visitation for James will be held on Friday, November 25 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Burial will follow at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Yvonne; and brothers, Dick and Jerry McPeek.
