Janet D. Hayes Swarthout, 86, of Plainfield passed away Saturday May 4, 2024 at Plainfield Healthcare Center.

Born June 2, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland she was the daughter of Frank Hasse and Caroline Piechota Hasse.  She married Richard Hayes February 4, 1956 and he preceded her in death December 2, 1980.

Janet was of Catholic faith growing up.  She enjoyed bingo and reading.

Janet is survived by son, Mike (Mary) Hayes of Camby, Mark (Kim) Hayes of Frisco, TX and Matthew (Eva) Hayes of New Palestine; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, David (Renee) Hasse of South Carolina.

There will be visitation for Janet Thursday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Norman Funeral Home in Hope.  A funeral service will follow at 1:00 and will be conducted by Pastor Scott Bourland.  Burial will be at Van Pelt Cemetery near Waldron, IN.

Memorial contributions may be donated to The Leukemia Society or The American Diabetes Association.;

Janet was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
