Jay Yandel Drake, 86, of Westport, died Saturday April 3, 2021 at Columbus Transitional Care.

Born November 9, 1934 in Columbus, Jay was the son of Silas A. and Jewell Brown Drake.  He married Vivian Hall July 23, 1966 and she preceded him in death February 5, 2016.

Before retirement Jay was self-employed in golf turf equipment.

He loved hunting, fishing and especially loved to repair things.  He served in the U.S. Army.

There will be a graveside service open to the public Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Daugherty Cemetery.

Survivors include children, James (Kim) Gorman of Greensburg, June (Robert) Woodard of Senatobia, MS and Susan (Vic) Becker of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Gaston (Sara) Gorman of Indianapolis, Clara Becker of Grand Rapids, MI and Thomas Gorman of Greensburg; brother, Jerry Drake of Columbus; 1 niece and 2 nephews.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; grandson, Emery Becker and brothers, Jack Johnson and Orson Drake.
