Jerry L.Rollins, 72 of Hope passed away Monday March 16,2009 his home. Mr. Rollins retired as a diesel mechanic for Cummins Engine Co. He was member of the Masonic Lodge, served with the U.S. Navy- USM from 1958 until 1964. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and loved fishing. He graduated from Odon High School. The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Pastor Barry Goodman officiating.Calling will be on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until service time.Cremation will follow the service and a Military Graveside Service and burial will be at a later date at FlatRock Baptist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana. Born in Newberry, IN Sept. 3, 1937, Mr. Rollins was the son of Earl and Simonetta Hurt Rollins. He married Joann Essex on March 3, 1972 at the Clifford United Methodist Church and she survives. Other suvivors include sons , Jeff (Karen) Rollins and Greg Rollins both of Lafayette, Ben (Holly) Rollins of Lexington, KY, and Rick (Donna) Rollins of Columbus; step daughters Stephanie (Jack) Bowers of New Jersey , Bobbi (John ) Dailey of Hope, Teresa Hadley of New York and Brenda Humbel of Hope; brother Roger (Treva) Rollins of Greensburg; sister Pat (Alan) Clark of Azaela; Grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rollins of Lexington, Ky, Samuel Rollins of Lafayette, Chad Rollins and Justin (Nicoletta ) Dailey,and Haylee Rollins all of Columbus, Sandy (Matt) Artis of Greensburg, T.J. (Athena) Taylor of Colorado, Dustin (Katrina) Phares of Brownstown, Emily (Shane) Campbell and Joshawa Coy both of Hope and Danielle Bowers of New Jersey; and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepson Craig Phares.
