Jim Bense, 70, of Columbus, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at his home.
He was a grain farmer. Jim was a member of Chapel of the Good Shepherd church.
Jim enjoyed farming and watching sports. He liked to talk and visit with people. He also enjoyed spending time with family and his grandkids.
Born on September 27, 1946 in Columbus, Jim was the son of Everett and Mabel Legan Bense. He married Pat Beeker on August 23, 1975, and she survives.
Other survivors include children, Mike Bense of Columbus, Steve (Jennifer) Bense, and John (BJ) Bense, both of Hope; grandchildren, Tyler and Aiden Bense, and Ryan and Kobe Meahl, all of Hope; and brother, David Bense, of Hope.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Kathy Bense and Carol Petro.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Torrison officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Chapel of the Good Shepherd.
