JoAnne Burnes, 86 of Columbus passed away Saturday August 31, 2013 at her home.
She had attended Hope United Methodist Church, was a 50 year member of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority and was a member of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. She graduated from Hope High School in 1946.
She loved spending time with and helping to care for grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. Jerry Crouse officiating. Visitation will be from noon until
service time on Wednesday. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be donated to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Born May 4, 1927 in Petersville, JoAnne was the daughter of Garrah and Effie Sullivan Trotter. She married James O. Burnes February 7, 1948 and he preceded her in death October 8, 2006.
Survivors include a son, Gordon (Cathy) Burnes of Shelbyville; a daughter,Marcia (Greg) Burton of Columbus; grandchildren, James W. (Shauna) Burnes of Indianapolis, Ashley Burton (George Kiilu) of Columbus and Grant Burton of Frankiln; great grandchildren, Alexander Burnes of Shelbyville and Olivia
and Amelia Burnes of Indianapolis.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Nora Bruner and Josephine Burnes and brothers, Dallas and Lee Trotter.
