John R. Michael, 78 of Westport, died Friday August 8, 2010 at his home.
He was retired from Golden Foundry. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
The funeral will be Monday at 10:30 am at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Rev.
Robert Reeves officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-6 at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery west of Clifford.
Memorials may be donated to Hospice of Jennings County through the funeral home.
Born on April 21, 1932 in Lauderdale Co., Alabama, John was the son of Jesse D.
and Minnie Belle Davis Michael. He married Mae Cobb on December 12, 1953 in
Bartholomew Co. and she survives.
Survivors include his wife Mae of Westport; sons, Dennis (Julie) Michael of Taylorsville, John R.
Jr. (Faye) Michael of Columbus, James H. Michael of Westport, Mark Michael of Columbus,
Ronald Michael of Westport and Billy (Marsha) Michael of Taylorsville; daughters, Shirley (Roger)
Leeson of Hope, Donna Michael, Lori Michael and Chris Michael all of Columbus; a sister,
Helen Gassaway of Elizabethtown; a brother, William Michael of Lexington, Alabama and several
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Steven, Travis, Larry and Jerry Michael and
brothers, Herbert Lee, Owen Edward and Harold Gene.
