Obituary

John William Myers, 71 of Flat Rock passed away at 5:45 p.m Wednesday Feb.11, 2009 at his home. He retired from KCL Corp. after working there 44 years and had served as Noble Township Trustee for 12 years and was serving on the advisory board. He had been president and vice president of United Paperworkers Union. He was also a member, sunday school teacher and secretary of Westside Wesleyan Church. He was a graduate of Waldron High School and was a Shelbyville News motor route carrier. He loved to hunt. travel and spending time with family and friends. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Westside Wesleyan Church in Shelbyville. Calling will be on Saturday from 3 to 8. p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope and at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m until service time. Burial will be at Millers Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the John W. Myers Fund or the donor's choice of charity thru Norman Funeral Home. Born in Shelby Co. on November 28, 1937, he was the son of James B and Cecil L Sharp Myers. He married Judith A. Pettit Phares on November 16, 1966 and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter Priscilla Lynn ( Sam ) Phares Barnes of St. Paul, grandchildren Phillip Daniel Barnes and Roseann Barnes both of St. Paul and a great grandson Lyndon Barnes of St. Paul. Mr Myers was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Eureka Ann Myers.
