Obituary

John R. Norman, 61 of Hope passed away Tuesday evening at his
home.
He was fourth generation funeral director and owner/operator of Norman
Funeral Home in Hope, one of the oldest businesses in the state of Indiana,
being established in 1880.
He was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and attended Hope
Moravian Church, a member of Hope Masonic Lodge and Yellow Trail Museum.
He had served on the Hope Heritage Days Committee for over 25 years, being
honored as Parade Grand Marshall in 2004.
He was a haunted attractions hobbyist and had created his own haunted house
for many years at Halloween, loved music, was a pop bottle collector,
a collector of the Hope Community Memorabilia as well as 50's, 60's and 70's
memorabilia. He dearly loved his yorkies Chloe and Chesse.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home with Revs.
Jerry Crouse, Jeff Van Orden and Norman Wallace officiating. The visitation will
be Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from noon until service
time. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be donated to Hope, Hartsville, Clifford or Flat Rock
Fire Depts. or the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
Born December 31, 1951 in Columbus, IN, John was the son of Eugene "Gene"
and Elizabeth Norman. He married Suzie Elliott April 25, 1981 at the Hope United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son Andy Norman of Indianapolis; a daughter Ashley
Norman of Hope and a brother Morris Norman of Hope.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
