John M. Patterson, 80 of Columbus passed away at 3:25 p.m. Saturday Febraury 21, 2009 at Silver Oaks Health Center. Mr. Patterson had worked for City Of Columbus Water Dept. for several years. He was a Marine veteran serving in the Koreon War. He loved all kinds of sports. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Calling will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Hawcreek Cemetery near Hope. Mr. Patterson was born November 25, 1928 in Cumberland, IN. He married Vernice Sanders in 1953 and she preceded him in death in 1997. Survivors include children Mike (Diana) Patterson of Columbus, Christina Hill of Greensburg, Robert (Rita) Patterson of North Vernon, Wanda and Kathy Patterson of Edinburgh.; one sister and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and several brothers and sisters.
