Kenneth L. Bense, 68, of Hope passed away Sunday March 16, 2008 at 10:28 pm at his home.
Mr. Bense had been a farmer since 1957. He was a member and active leader at The St. Paul Lutheran Church-Clifty. He graduated from Hope High School in 1957. He was on Premier Ag Coop Board of Directors for 27 years. He had held several offices and currently was president of Farm Bureau. He was on The Bartholonew Co. Planning Commission for 8 years. He was on the Flat Rock Hawcreek School Board. He hosted several State Department Leaders.
He earned The American Farmer Degree FFA award, the Outstanding Young Farmer award, and the Rural Service award. He enjoyed travel, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday March 20, 2008 at 11:00 am at The St. Paul Lutheran Church- Clifty with Pastor Doug Bauman officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home from 4:00 -8:00 and on Thurs. at the church from 10:00-11:00. Burial will be at The St Paul Lutheran Church- Clifty Cemetery.
Born September 20, 1939 in Columbus, IN, Mr. Bense was the son of Louis E. and Anna Louise Gelfius Bense and they preceded him in death. He married Julia A. Deiwert on May 20, 1961 in Columbus, IN.
Survivors include his wife; children, Lee Ann(Ray) Anspaugh of Shelbyville,
David W. (Sandy) Bense of Hope and Pam (Mark) Wint of Columbus; grandchildren, Jennifer Bense,and Anna and Jonathon Wint; a brother, Louis Bense of Hope and a sister, Dorothy Beck of Franklin.
