Larry Lee "Shep" Shepherd, 50 of Hope died Saturday September 24, 2011 at Hospice
of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
He had been employed for 33 years at Quality Machine & Tool Works, Inc.
He was a member of The Ridge.
He loved to play volleyball, ride his motorcycle and spending time with his family, especially his
grandchildren. He was a hard worker and was very dedicated to his career.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 am at The Ridge with Pastor Jerry K. Day Jr.
officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday form 4 - 8 pm at Norman Funeral Home in Hope
and Thursday from 10:00 am until service time at The Ridge. Burial will be at Garland Brook
Cemetery. Memorials may be donated to Hope Relay For Life- Team Larry or to The Ridge
Building Fund.
Born on February 22, 1961 in Columbus, Larry was the son of Larry Max and Nellie Edith
McIntyre Shepherd. His mother passed away when he was four years old and he was then
raised by his Aunt Marie and Uncle Herman Otte who live in Columbus. He married Jonna Beeker
Gearhart on May 23, 2003 in Nashville, IN and she survives.
Other survivors include; children, Ashley (Matt) Sauer of Plainfield, Joshua Shepherd of Columbus,
Jason (Whitney) Gearhart of Greensburg, Caleb (Megan) Shepherd of Columbus and Ashton Shepherd
of Columbus; grandchildren, Ayden and Marley Shepherd of Columbus, Brayden Sauer of Plainfield
and Luke Rogers of Columbus; a sister, Diana Alexander of Fountaintown and a cousin who he was
raised with, Paul (Joan) Otte of Elizabethtown.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a cousin who he was raised with, Steven Otte.
