Laura Belle (Richards) Schmitt, 81 of Indianapolis passed away
December 25, 2012 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was employed by Bartholomew County Hospital, Arvin
Industries and John Hancock Life Insurance Company.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 pm at Norman Funeral Home in Hope
with Roy Wasson officiating. Calling will be from noon until service time on
Sunday. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Laura was born, April 12, 1931, in Boston, Kentucky to Katie
(Crawhorn) and Charles Richards. She graduated from Clifford High
School in 1948. Laura married Master Sargent Robert L. Schmitt on October 30, 1958
and spent the next several years traveling as a military spouse. He preceded her
in death.
She is survived by her brothers, Carl (Sue) Richards and Tom (Linda) Richards of
Columbus; sisters, Wanda (Richards) Madden of Longview, Texas and Linda (Richards)
Wayman of Dothan, Alabama; children, Charles (Karen) Schmitt of Avon,Indiana, Julie
Johnson of Champagne, Illinois, John Schmitt of Indianapolis and Christy Schmitt of
Tipton, Indiana; grandchildren, Valerie Schmitt, Emily Schmitt (Isaac) Barkes, Joseph
Schmitt, Benjamin Schmitt, Logan Johnson and Jaime Johnson as well as numerous
nieces and nephews.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, Charles and Katie
Richards; brothers, Charles B. Richards, Ronnie Richards, Don Richards amd Bobby
Richards; sisters, Betty Richards and Edith (Richards) Harrison and a son, Christopher
Carl Schmitt.
