Leisa Jane
Mohr
Sep 19, 1961 — Sep 17, 2026
Edinburgh
Leisa Jane Gonzalez grew up in Griffith Indiana to Valentine and Valerie Gonzalez. Her parents met when they were young and started a family that included Val, Steve, Leisa, Chris, Amy, and Ricky.
She looked up to her father Valentine who was a Marine, police officer, and worked very hard for his family. Leisa was also very close with her mother who spent her life in service of the family.
Leisa was so proud of her brother Val and Steve for their military service, Chris's founding of IYG, and Amy and Ricky's work ethic and love of family.
She met her first husband Steve Coppess in Franklin Indiana. She was a good mother to Drew, Sarah, Bobby, and Billy. The kids remember how she devoted her life to them, teaching them how to be good people and showing them unconditional love through the hard times.
They enjoyed going on family walks, hiking in Brown County and Muscatatuck, zoos, caves, spending time with family on holidays, and cooking.
Leisa and Steve's son Bobby passed away as a baby and she never lost faith in knowing that when her time ended they would meet again.
The family moved to Edinburgh in the early 90s and spent many years on a small farm with goats, chickens, rabbits, and other animals. Leisa watched over the kids, always seeming to know if shenanigans were afoot. When they were she loved you anyway.
In 2007 she married Lyle Mohr and went on to have 20 good years with him, adventuring across Indiana to festivals, Power of the Past, the apple orchard, country drives, and all the places where you could find good food. They took good care of each other, both with a lot to say, but balancing each other's personalities. She loved Lyle's family like her own - Lyle's sister Julana, and his daughters Belinda, April, and Adrienne.
She worked hard for 12 years with Comfort Keepers, taking care of the elderly in their homes. She gave her heart and soul to everyone she took care of and they called her an Angel for holding that space for their family.
She enjoyed her new home in Edinburgh, working with Lyle to pay it off and enjoy their own private paradise. Leisa loved growing flowers around the property, watching the hummingbirds, and feeling the quiet peace of country life.
Her pride and joy was all the grandkids. She would make food and treats to show her love. All of her grandkids love her so much- Andrew and Courtney's child Nora, Sarah and Damon's kids Simon, Sapphire, Scarlett, and Sterling, William and Allison's kids Claire and Leon, Brandon and Paige and their kids Bella and Briar. Wyatt and Ingry and their child Asher. Oliver. Tyler and Kylee and their child Kayson. Emily and Courtney.
Leisa has left a lasting love within all of us
