Lester E. "Sleep" Lyle of Columbus passed away at 2:46 a.m. Saturday May 22, 2010 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr Lyle retired from Reeves as a machinist after working there 34 years. He was a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge, loved stock car racing and loved to watch his son race stock cars. He was a Tony Stewart fan and loved to watch old time movies and raise tomatoes.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with the Rev. Jerry K. Day Sr. officiating. Calling will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and also on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sand Creek Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Cancer Fund of Bartholomew County.
Born in Bartholomew Co. on June 30, 1932 he was the son of Forrest and Vera Dean Lyle.
Survivors include children Gregg Lyle of Edinburgh, Gail (Rick) Wilson and Carla (Rick) Emmitt both of Hope and Karen (Larry) Love of Columbus; sisters Mabel (Don) Coulter Hughes of Columbus, Viola ( John ) Beeker of Hope ; grandchildren Shana Brooks, Greg Roberts, Chad Emmitt and Bryan Love ; four great grandchildren and a good friend and neighbor Nancy Baker.
He was preceded in death by brothers Herbert and George Lyle and a sister Lela Mae Muir.
