Lewis "Eugene" Trisler,80 of Hope passed away on Tuesday April 17 2012 at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mr. Trisler retired from Cummins Engine Co in 1995 after working there 43 years. He was a member of the Hope First Wesleyan Church where he served as superintendant and church board member. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and in 2003 he was recognized for his distinguished military service at Hope Heritage Days God And Country Rally. He enjoyed doing woodworking.
The funeral will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Mr. Trisler's nephew Brad Douglas offiiciating. Calling hours will be Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. Burial will be at Hope Moravian cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Hope Wesleyan Church building fund.
Born in Hope Nov, 15, 1931, Mr. Trisler was the son of James Trisler Sr and Lottie Stroup Booher Trisler. He married Evelyn Bunting on\Sept.24 1955 in Hartsville and she survives.
Other survivors include children Mark (Tamma) Trisler, Sharen (Jon) Dooley and Scott Trisler all of Hope; grandchildren Jennifer (Jason) Hardy of Seymour and Jonathan Dooley of Shelbville.
Mr. Trisler was preceded in death by his parents and siblings William and Joe Booher, Mary Mackey, Ruth Bruner, Nellie Burton, Lois Clark, James Trisler,Jr., Norma Fiesbek and Carolyn Trisler.
