Louis E. Bense Jr., 85 of Hope passed away Monday July 4, 2016
at Miller's Merry Manor in Hope.
He had worked as a farmer in Bartholomew and Decatur County
before retirement.
He was a member and a deacon of Waynesville Christian Church.
He loved fishing, hunting traveling and woodworking.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home
in Hope with Pastor David Burnett officiating. Visitation will be
Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 1 hour prior to service time
at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
Born in Bartholomew County July 5, 1930, Louis was the son of
Louis Sr. and Anna Louise Gelfius Bense. He married Janet Dailey
July 6, 1948 in Columbus, IN and she survives.
Other survivors include; children Brenda (David) Shireman of
Hartsville, Wanda (Steve) Fortner of Hartsville and Debbie (Mike)
Cox of Hope; grandchildren, Jeff Elliott of Rochester, IN, Michelle
(Bob) Sackett of Greensburg, Kevin Elliott of Hartsville, Beth (Kevin)
AmRhein and Justin (Ashley) Shireman, both of Westport, Glendon
(Sarah) Cox of Greensburg and Morgan Cox of Hope; great
grandchildren, Kristen Miller, Nicholas Elliott, Evan Elliott, Madalyn
Shireman, Jaxon Shireman, Braden AmRhein and Ian AmRhein;
sister, Dorothy (Morris) Beck of Franklin, IN and a son in law,
Charles Elliott.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Beverly
Elliott; brother, Kenneth Bense.
