Lucille E. "Lucy" Gilliland, 82, of Hope, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Columbus Transitional Health.
Lucy retired from Jay C Food Stores – Food Plus after 36 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hope and Red Hat Crimson Chicks.
Lucy enjoyed cooking, spending time with family, and hosting get-togethers. She also enjoyed working in her yard and loved her great-grandchildren.
Born on October 2, 1936 in Columbia, Kentucky, Lucy was the daughter of Charlie and Nancy Clyde May Giles. She had been married to Harold Gilliland for 48 years, and he preceded her in death on February 25, 2016.
Survivors include children, Gail (Rick) Wilson of Hope, Karen (Larry) Love of Columbus, Carla (Rick) Emmitt of Hope, Nancy Berkenstock of Hartsville, Joyce (Steve) Garrison, Donald (Kim) Gilliland, and Lisa (Tony) Garrison, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Greg (Alisha) Roberts, Shana (Billy) Brooks, Chad (Stephanie) Emmitt, Bryan (Casey Singer) Love, Ryan and Shannon Love, Jeremy (Angie) Emmitt, Brent Berkenstock, Ryan Berkenstock, Josh Bean, Jeremy Gilliland, Eric and Dustin Allman, Michael, Kacie, and Matthew Garrison, and Keri Foster ; great-grandchildren, Tyla, Titus, Cameryn, Holten, Shaylee, Baylee, Mcaylee, Jayce, and Bryn; 14 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Carl (Marilyn) Giles of Abilene, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lucy is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gregg Lyle; and brother, Elvin Giles.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home with Ed Boston officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Memory Gardens at Columbus Transitional Care or Red Hat Crimson Chicks.
