Lucile Hurd passed away in Columbus, Indiana on February 3, 2022.
She was born in Akron, Ohio on February 18,1927 to Simon Grant and
Lottie Jane (Arp) Davis. In 1932 her family moved to Sumner,
Kentucky and later to Corbin, Kentucky. In 1941, the family moved to
Reading, Ohio. During WW ll, Lucille worked at Progress Lithographic
Company in Reading from 1943 to 1963. After her retirement she
married Donald Richard Hurd Sr. and moved to Eaton, Ohio. Lucille
raised six stepchildren – Shari Lynn Clifford, triplets May (Leonard)
Burrell of Eaton, OH, Martha (Ed) White of Powder Springs, GA, and
Mary Kane (Fred) of Ladson, S.C., Cindy (Marvin) Miller of Eaton, OH,
and Donald Richard Jr. (Jennifer) of Richmond, IN.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, daughter Shari
Lynn in 2011, her parents, brothers Roy, Carl and Raymond Davis and
sister Ethel Winebrenner. After her husband's death, she moved to
Columbus, IN in 1995 to care for her elderly mother.
Lucille is survived by brothers Edward Lee Davis and Gordon Davis of
Columbus. Indiana, Donald Davis of Seymour, Indiana, Tom Davis of
Greenwood, Indiana and sister Ruth Pittsley of Columbus, Indiana. She
is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Lucille gave her heart to the Lord in 1945 at Deer Park Assembly of
God Church in Deer Park, OH. She was an avid bowler and
participated in many leagues during her younger years. She also was
considered the family photographer, having accumulated thousands of
photos from her teenage years until the present. She acquired this
love from her mother who did the same thing. She also loved cooking
and farming.
The funeral is being held at Norman Funeral Home of Hope, Indiana
on Saturday February 12 at 1 PM. Calling is from 12-1 PM. Services are private
for the family only due to the Covid pandemic. Those attending are
respectfully asked to wear a mask.
