Obituary

Lula May Rucker, 88, of Hope, passed away Monday July 15, 2013 at Silver Oaks Health Care Facility.

She was a member of the Burney Baptist Church and attended Parkside Baptist Church. She was a member of Hope American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed the Red Hat Ladies Society at Hartsville Church of Christ, sewing, cooking, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m . at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Dr. William Bailey officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4 - 8 p.m .at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hawcreek Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be donated to the Amy Rucker Bernard and Jonathon Casey Hoffman Endowment Scholarship Fund through the funeral home.

Lula was born January 12, 1925 in Menard County, IL. She was the daughter of Vernon and Zenith Fall Brooks. She married Leonard J.Rucker September 12, 1944 and he preceded her in death on March 22, 2005.

Survivors include children, Bonita (Lynn) Artis of Hope, Linda (Shawn) Casey of Fort Walton Beach, FL. and Steve (Janet) Rucker of Hartsville; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and a brother, Richard Brooks of North Vernon.

Lula was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; grandchildren, Clifton Artis and Amy Rucker Bernard; a sister, Mary Wood and a brother, Vernon "Bud" Brooks.
