Obituary

M. Alberta Martin, 90 of Flat Rock died Sunday August 21, 2011 at Miller's Merry
Manor.
She was retired from Deer Hardware in Franklin where she had been a bookkeeper.
She was a member of the Flat Rock Christian Church, Homemakers Bible Hour,
Golden Rule Sunday School Class and the Ninevah Chapter of Eastern Star.
She was an avid gardner and loved baking.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at Flat Rock Christian Church with Pastor
Stacy Popejoy officiating. The visitation will be Tuesday from 4 - 8 at Norman Funeral
Home and from 10:00 am until service time on Wednesday at the church. There will be
an Eastern Star Service on Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be
at Flat Rock Cemetery in Flat Rock, IN.
Memorials may be donated to the Flat Rock Christian Church.
Born on July 31, 1921 in Washington Co., Indiana. Mrs. Martin was the daughter of Jason
and Nettie Rhinehart Jones. She married Ted Gerth in December of 1941 and he preceded her
in death on June 6, 1944. She then married Dora Johnson on March 11, 1947 and he preceded
her in death on June 19, 1948. She then married Harold Martin September 14, 1958 and he
preceded her in death on January 6, 2004.
Survivors include; daughters, Virginia M. Webb of Greenwood, and Mary (Joe) Bott of North
Vernon; sons, Terry Martin of Franklin, William (Shelley) Martin of Peru, Don Martin of
Shelbyville, Jon Martin of Flat Rock, and Marvin Martin of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Natalie
Ferrill of Franklin, Kathy Cool of Carmel, Diane Bower of North Vernon, Cheryl Muschweck
of LaPort, TX, Aaron Broadbent of Washington State, Robert Martin and Christopher Martin
of Peru, Jennifer Hamm of Greensburg, Melissa Pass of Edinburgh, Michael Martin of Greensburg
and Anthony Martin of Indianapolis and twenty one great grandchildren.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by brothers, Russell, Paul and Cecil Jones and a sister,
Evelyn Jones Thornburgh.
